While I would not consider myself an athlete growing up, I played team sports and was relatively active. At about 30, I shifted from a relatively active job as a teacher to a very sedentary job as an online teacher. About the same time, I reconnected with my now husband. That is when I realized that as we began to start a family, things needed to change. My fitness journey did not really start until after the birth of my second child. I was in the worst shape of my life when my children were born. With the help of Coach Dave, I began to take better care of myself. I realized the importance of being an example for my young daughters.
During the course of my fitness journey, I have faced many obstacles. The greatest has been the stigma that comes along with motherhood to put everyone else first. It has not been easy to put my health and wellness ahead of the needs of young children. With time, I have learned that in order to be the best mother and wife, I need to be the best version of myself which requires me to put myself first often.
My passion for coaching comes from my love for teaching. I can remember wanted to be a teacher as young as 3rd grade. I have been doing some form of teaching since high school- from teaching gymnastics to young children, teaching Jr. High Spanish, to coaching CrossFit- for me there is nothing greater than seeing the look of pure joy in someone's face when they achieve something they did not think they were capable of!
